It currently has 7; 772 hectares; 20 km of extension and a population of 484, 630 inhabitants; product by the great migratory displacement towards the district; in search of; better occasions of employment and better conditions of life.; mainly of the departments of huancavelica; ayacucho; junín and other districts of lima. it is the tenth largest district in the province of lima, the 6th most populous in metropolitan lima and the 2nd with the highest concentration of poor; being also the second district of the cone this one that counts on greater number of homes with the three unsatisfied basic needs; after the district of san juan de lurigancho. the population is fundamentally young; 57% are under 25 years old; on the other hand the female population represents 50.6% and the male population 49.4%; therefore indicating a greater increase of women in the district and coincidentally the importance that women acquire in different roles in the family and in social organizations. illiteracy is represented by 7%; on the other hand, the school education centers total 573. however, school infrastructure does not supply the school demand; it is worth mentioning that 71.2% of schools are private and 28; 8% are public.
